It may have to grown on you a little. I recall the very first time I heard Way Cool Jr. I wasn't that thrilled since I was used to the raw hard rock of Round and Round and Lay it Down but Way Cool Jr. may actually be better! It combines rock, metal, blues, and even a little pop to create a fantastic song with rock, metal, blues, pop, melody, rhythm, bass, drums, etc. all to perfection!! The video is great too with all those hot chicks! RATT really knew how to use those funky brass horns!! You see the dual meaning there right? LOL |

The Morning After http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIwLRfuTcko&feature=related blows Way Cool Jr. WCJ is good to put a variety in Ratt catalog though. The beautiful twin guitar harmonies in Round And Round etc. combined w/ Stephen's born-to-be rocker vocal and dynamic rhythm team crystallized the fame of RATT. Stephen Pearcy is only one in this planet so as other vocalists. If Stephen is the sole reason of RATT's success, his solo projects are expected to be as successful as RATT is. If Warren's superb guitar techniques are the signature of RATT, his solo projects should've been appreciated by general hard rock fans. I bought one of his albums but only listened to it about three times over a decade ago. Although I started as a die-hard Warren fan, his too much input of personal preference in RATT songs disappointed me. To me, Blues music is best done by black folks. Only exception in my book is Stevie Ray Vaughan. RATT had an era without another guitarist. I saw them live in 1997, I think. Stephen took cover to fill the void and did a great job. My point is, no matter how superb Warren is, this band is incomplete. Robbin's opinions should've been heard. His playing came from soul. I'm glad his friend Carlos filled his place. Carlos was a guitarist of the first hard rock band which had hit #1 on US chart. |

At the time I made that post I had listened to Way Cool Jr. and seen the video again for the first time in years and I realized what a UNIQUE song it is with the funky brass horns and how they used it so well with rock/metal! So I may have exaggerated a bit. It's STILL a FANTASTIC song though and one of their best! I agree "The Morning After" is a great song and one of my favorite too. As far as Way Cool Jr. goes I never even cared or noticed if it has a blues influence or not. It's just a great song. I assume that is heavily Warren's influence and he did most of the writing for Way Cool Jr.? There is a video on youtube of Pearcy's concert in Iowa on 3/5 where he plays Way Cool Jr. The live version is not as good as the studio version of course. Some songs just sound better live and some songs sound better with the studio version. Songs like "Lay it Down" and "Lack of Communication" sound great live!! There's also a youtube video of "Lack of Communication" of Stephen in concert on 3/5 in Iowa. |

Way Cool Jr. is definitely up there as one of my favorite Ratt songs. It's currently the ringtone on my cell phone. |

The 2nd half of the song is my favorite where things really build up into a crescendo and you get a cacaphony of musical power! It's even better when you hear it with the video! How can we live without the Ratt 81/91 DVD? |

I would love it if the band would re-release the EP on CD. The only CD version I can find is on ebay for over $100. |

No doubt Way Cool Jr. is as Way Cool as it gets but DANCE is my favorite RATT song ever!! It just has the perfect blend of rock/metal/pop/rhythm/melody/power!! I know Dance may not be the all time favorite song among many RATT fans but I have heard from a few who think Dancing Undercover is their favorite RATT album. I wouldn't agree with that. I would still have to say Out of the Cellar is best overall RATT album with Reach for the Sky probably second or Invasion. Plus the Dance video along with the song makes it REALLY kick ass!! But the best RATT song live may very well be Lay It Down. I just know when I saw them around 2000 that sounded like the greatest song live I had EVER heard!! But I've not heard all their top songs live so I may change my mind on that. |

So you are a younger RATT fan? Are you in your 20s or younger? All fellow RATT 'n rollers are welcome from age 1 to age 100+ from anywhere on earth! Hope you bought new copies just to help out our favorite band or one of our favorites. The difference is only a few bucks anyway. I think RATT is the favorite band for most people here. It's just that with the MASSIVE change in the music industry it's very difficult to make a living at it anymore. Look at all the platinum albums in the 80s. Now they're almost as rare as dinosaurs. BTW, did you get the RATT 81/91 DVD? That has ALL their videos on it and it's totally KICK ASS! I assure you you'll watch it several times and you'll keep watching it over the years! Top videos on the DVD: 1. Dance 2. You're in Love 3. Round and Round 4. Way Cool Jr. 5. Wanted Man 6. You Think You're Tough |

I am a younger fan, I'm only 18 years old. I bought all of the CDs I have new but I bought the cassette version of Reach for the Sky used because I just happen to come across it at a thrift store for $1 and couldn't pass it up. I have bought the 81/91 DVD yet but I'll definitely have to get that. I still want to get Detonator, Ratt (1999), and Infestation too. |
