A Ratt'n'roll revolution!
Baltimore show was great!
A Ratt'n'roll revolution!
Maybe I'm just a crazy optimist, but it seems like this new Ratt release and tour is the start of something rather than a grand finale. I'd really like to see these guys continue to succeed. It seems they are the last hope to bring heavy, melodic rock'n'roll back. I've pretty much given up on everyone else from that era reviving anything other than nostalgic ticket sales. I want to see new young bands cut from the Ratt mold thriving in America and the rest of the world again. .… not just as a sub-culture of 80’s nostalgia, but as a complete infestation (pun intended) of rock'n'roll insanity. Ratt has managed to write and record new songs that are THE PERFECT blend of modern sounds with the heavy melodic rock I grew up on in the 80's. I really hope they are getting radio airplay around the country. Sadly, I wouldn't know because I can't stand to listen to the radio for all the watered down crap that gets played. I know there are bands out there, young musicians even, that play good music. ....young kids who live, eat, sleep, and breath their music, their talent, and their instruments with rock'n'roll in their blood.
Ratt, I'm counting on YOU to inspire these kids to start a new age of real guitar heros with tasty riffs and chops and licks that slice through the mix and make people want to play guitar as a true form of expression, not some clinical tool of a trade. .... front men with abrasive personalities, presence and attitude instead of politically correct cry babies. ....Drummers and bassists who's unique skills contribute to the overall personality and character of the band. You all know what I'm talking about here.
PLEASE use this thread to express your shared desire for Ratt's continued success to help bring about a change in popular music.
How many people out there are as hungry for a Ratt'n'roll revolution as I am?
Baltimore show was great!
I just saw Ratt in Baltimore and came away pleased yet disappointed. Pleased because the show was awesome. A great performance all around, and some of the songs I really wanted to hear. Disappointed that the show wasn't longer. I guess they are considered "warm up" shows before their big full-on European tour. There was no encore, and they left out a handful of songs that I would like to have seen/heard live.
They opened with "You're In Love" and closed with "Round and Round". I fully expected to hear most of, if not the entire new album, but they only played 4 or 5 tracks from it. Of course they included "Eat Me up Alive" and "Best of Me". I wanted them to do "As Good as it Gets", but they left that one out. Here are the songs I can remember (out of order except first and last):
You're in Love
Lay it Down
Lack of Communication
Take a Big Bite
You Think You're Tough
I Want A Woman
Wanted Man
Lovin' You is Dirty Job
Way Cool Junior
Slip of the Lip
Last Call
Eat Me Up Alive
A Little Too Much (... I may be wrong about this one so don't quote me)
Best of Me
Back for More
Nobody Rides For Free
Round and Round
Of course it's possible I left out one or two, but I'm pretty sure that's it. I'm a huge Warren Demartini fan, and he did not disappoint. He played every lick and solo note for note (for the most part). At one point (I can't remember which song it was) his wammy bar fell off the guitar. He was somehow able to reach down, pick it up, and screw it back on to the bridge while continuing to play the song. He started with a white Charvel with some artwork (a cross, some words, a red heart....) around the perimeter of the front. He eventually went to his snake skin Performance guitar and used that for most of the set list. Carlos' playing was pretty impressive as well. He really seems to be the perfect fit. They sounded good doing the dual guitar lead parts. Robbie Crane was solid and really seemed to enjoy performing. I read some earlier posts claiming that Stephen was sloppy drunk, but he didn't appear to be messed up here. He seemed like a normal rock n' roll front man. Bobby Blotzer stepped out from behind his drum kit to the front of the stage and picked up a little kid that was there (7 or 8 years old) and gave him a drum stick. I was surprised to see all the little kids there at the front of the stage. I thought that was odd.
Anyway.... I'm happy that I finally got to see Ratt. I've been into them since Out of the Cellar first hit, and they still rock after all these years.
