Invasion of your Privacy Live
Ratt as a Live band
All time favorite ratt song
Ratt in Atlantic city August 14th
Invasion of your Privacy Live
I recently posted on the official facebook page how much many of us Rodents love Invasion of your privacy and that it deserves a live tribute the same way they did "Cellar" while touring in 2009.
There are just so many great songs that the die hards love that were basically created to be played in a live setting. As a younger Ratt fan, it would kill me to never be able to see Warren play the solo to "Give it all" or SEP's melody during "Between the eyes". Pretty much every song on that album is incredible and it's time it gets its due.
Even if they market it and only do it on 3-4 dates in larger markets, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd pay good money and travel a long way to see it. Bands like Steely Dan and Weezer have both done it this way with their more legendary albums and it has been extremely successful.
So who's with me? As rodent fans let's raise our voice to hear this masterpiece live and give it the tribute it deserves!
*Gotta give a shout out to poster All knowing force, who posted an interview he did with SEP in which he asked about the band performing Invasion.
Ratt as a Live band
Although I have profound love for this band, I'm a younger Ratt fan who was a mere kindergartner when they played MSG back to back nights and were MTV staples. One thing about the band that is puzzling is the differing opinions about Ratt as a live band. Some say they always blew away the bands they shared the stage with including Poison,Bon Jovi,Motley Crue,Britney Fox,ZZ Top and Billy Squier. Others contrast saying that although charismatic and entertaining, Stephen was a sloppy singer and the band struggled with some mixing/eq issues.
I've searched all over youtube and ebay to get my hands on anything vintage live Ratt. The problem is the inconsistencies of sound quality and perhaps the venue they were playing in(IE Small clubs)it's difficult to gauge. I've seen them many times since 1999, but although good stephen doesn't have the voice he used to and they weren't playing The Detroit Palace or the Metrodome when I saw them.
So to the older and more wiser Ratt fans who have seen them over the years in perhaps their natural element(arenas), how was Ratt live? How would you rate them against other popular acts performances at that time?
All time favorite ratt song
What is your deep down, all time favorite RATT song? Not the biggest hit, or your favorite big hit. Not the most obscure song you can name to impress all the long time die hards..just your honest to god truth favorite exempt of RATT n roll.
Let's have some fun with this
Ratt in Atlantic city August 14th
I'm making the haul from Hartford county to Jersey for an overnight stay solely to Ratt n Roll! Hoping they add some gems to the set list like Give it all, Between the eyes or Lookin for Love. If any band members read this, consider this an official song request ![]()
The prospect of an official live ratt recording
There has long been a sentiment for an official live Ratt video/album from the band w/ footage from the platinum era..I thought it'd be grounds for its own thread.
1980's live Ratt performances are few and far between in any media form.
In this fan's view, some of limited amount of stuff i have heard..is really good! There are actually a few performances i've come across..where the specific songs i prefer live over studio!. My point being, Ratt has GOT to have some similar material stashed away that they can put some equalizer and modern recording software to and release as another album. I think it's something the band and the fans would both adore. Ratt has always been very quick to point out to their critics that they were and still are a LIVE band..and what better way to showcase it?
Here are a few songs from Youtube. Anyone else's comments of these performances are welcome as well as any other Ratt live footage people come across. Ratt n Roll!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U813J1QplFE Between the eyes- 1986-Japan Stephen adds a couple live hooks during the verses of this one..they actually add another layer of catchiness to the song. And as SeattleRatt mentioned in the "deep cuts" thread,Warren SHREDS throughout!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81mW9Ey2B_I Dangerous but worth the risk-1986- Japan Fair warning to the listener: This was an opening track..there are a few opening guitar chords they play before the opening riff of the song begins.Sound quality throws it off a bit if you don't know this in advance! What great energy to start a show...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFJ6y8Qg1pQ&feature=related Enough is Enough 1987- Detroit, Michigan You could put this one on any official release as is.Best sound quality ive heard. This shows a different side of the band musically and also displays their charisma!
